The Science

Keeping up to date with research can be overwhelming when our time and energy is primarily dedicated to client care. During this weekend retreat, we will share with you the scientific findings that we use the most often in our practices. Research findings not only help us provide evidence-based care, they also help us reduce shame and educate those who love and support those we are treating.

Learn the intersection of basic science and latest research with both the therapist’s and dietitian’s role while increasing your comfort to help clients discern what is fact, fiction or opinion.

Rather than lecture on different strategies and skills in a classroom style setting, we will be learning experientially. There will be a maximum of 18 participants this weekend, which will allow for hands on experience for those that wish to and a front row seat for those who would rather observe.

Learn and experience hands-on, ready to use techniques to facilitate client’s healing as you help them connect to their own experience, both physically and psychologically.

scary stuff

Some of the scariest, toughest parts of our jobs can be figuring out things like: when is it safe to treat someone outpatient? what if a client refuses a higher level of care? how do we manage a client's focus on weight loss? do client's notice or judge our bodies? how do we manage a parent or partner's frustrations with a client's progress?

Learn how to approach the scary things we deal with. Everything from a client’s chance of survival, their anger or frustration with us to our own struggles and fears about our bodies.
